It’s My Party And I’ll Cry If I Want To

It's My Party And I'll Cry If I Want ToIt would be the worst thing in the world if no one remembered your birthday. I can picture people sitting in the bar and crying over it. (and crying and crying and crying.)

If you do have friends, maybe you need to remind them it’s your birthday. Start planning it weeks in advance. Never shut up about it, really, please go on and on. I get it; you’re getting old, enough.

What’s worse than being a pest and reminding your friends it’s your birthday? Sitting alone and wondering why no one showed up.

Don’t be that girl. If it’s your birthday, let your friends know, but they aren’t going to plan a surprise party, they’re adults.

PS happy birthday bitches.

  1. Ha-ha…I keep my birthday secret. Only my family knows. I told my best friend afterward, and one old friend remembered and sent me a private message on FB. I spent a day enjoying myself in secret- just how I like it!

  2. At my age I do try to ignore them. The numbers never meant much anyway. I think of this from George Bernard Shaw:
Don Juan: “Consider, Senora; was not this true even when you lived on earth? When you were 70, were you really older underneath your wrinkles and grey hairs than when you were 30?”
The Old Woman: “No, younger; at 30 I was a fool.”

  3. Nope!

all I want for my birthday is someone to tie me down, pour something warm, sticky and sweet on me. once I turned 40 I said to hell with birthdays, all it does is reminds me of my mortality. The other 364 days I feel infinite, don’t need that day to remind me someone will be knocking on my door asking me if i’m saved…grrrrr
