If Not For My Kids

If Not For My KidsThere are so many things I would never have done if not for my children. We were talking today about holiday cartoons and I realized how lucky I am that I was able to extend my childhood through my kids. Not only that, since they were little boys, I was able to see everything from a whole new perspective. Fricking magical, am I right?

I would never have gone to see the Lion King if not for my six-year-old. What a beautiful movie, I’m so glad I went! By the way, some guy tried to pick me up by asking my kid if I was single, nice guy, eh?

Toy Story, all the new Star Wars, XMen, Jurassic Park and so many other movies I saw in the theatre; I would have never gone to any of these movies.

If not for my children, I wouldn’t have an Xbox, I would never have had a Playstation, I would have never played video games after 1984. Video games are a fantastic way to waste time and get rid of some frustrations.

If not for my children, I would have never stepped on a lego. I would have never seen the wonder in their eyes when they see butterflies or really, just the simplest, yet most amazing things.

If not for my children, I would think this was a pretty horrible world, I’ve forgotten some of the small things. Show your kid something beautiful and remember how awesome life can be.

PS then again, if not for my kid, I wouldn’t have bashed some old guy in the nuts with a bag of cans. You win some, you lose some.

  1. Being someone that has to deal with periodic bouts of terrible depression and anxiety, if it weren’t for my kids – I’m not sure I would still be around. The majority of my smiles that I’ve had over the past year or so, I owe all to my kids. πŸ™‚

  2. I love this post! There are so many wonderful things that we get to experience as moms, yet it can be easy to overlook all the small moments that make it so magical. Thank you for the reminder to cherish these things!
