Happy Father’s Day, Dad

Happy Father's Day DadSadly, he can’t thank me as he passed away in 1987.

Sadly, I can’t thank him either.

Thank you Dad.

Thank you for giving me life.

Thank you for teaching me to swim, use an axe and start a campfire.

Thank you for teaching me about stars, plants and rocks.

Thank you for me.

Thank you for being a jackass and dying when I was 19.

Thank you for teaching me that men can’t be counted on.

Thank you for me.

Because of me, I know that not all men are like you.

Because of me, I know that I was a child, and had no idea what was happening.

Because of me, I know that things aren’t always as they seem.

Because of me.

Because of you, I am a good person, a good parent and can be counted on.

Because of you, I am smart, strong and fearless.

Because of you.

My dad may not have been the best parent. My dad may not have been the best person. My dad was my dad, and I loved him anyways.

RIP Dad, thank you for loving me.

  1. That’s beautiful….I have been a bit unsure how I would feel about Father’s Day since my Dad passed away 2 years ago, but I am uplifted by your genuine and heartfelt tribute. Wonderful you! Hugs, Harlon
